Anika Nixdorf is a London-based artist whose surreal and experimental works in watercolour, ink, cyanotype and mixed media explore the unconscious mind through symbolic imagery and automatic drawing. Her rich and fluid compositions convey a human disconnection from, and reconnection to the natural world, the feminine and the parts of life that we as individuals hold sacred. Nixdorf’s work is heavily influenced by her training in art psychotherapy at the London Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education and is for the artist a therapeutic process as she explores deeply personal issues, and seeks to find and heal the wounded and alienated parts of herself.
In addition to her formal training, Nixdorf has studied ancient and contemporary tribal art and dreamwork by which she is deeply influenced.
Nixdorf takes design and illustration commissions for brand development and cover art.
